Quotation Costing

Calculate accurate product costs for every RFQ using an extensible process architecture with dedicated manufacturing models. Build multi-level BOMs, compare scenarios side by side, route through approval workflows, and respond faster — with numbers that hold up under customer scrutiny.

Why Quotation Costing with ORAGO

Extensible Process Architecture

Each manufacturing step uses a dedicated process definition with its own parameters — press tonnage, weld points, cycle times. Strategy-based calculations compute cost and cycle time. No generic fields. No guesswork.

Scenario Comparison

Build multiple cost scenarios for the same part — different materials, processes, or volumes. Compare them side by side with full cost version history and choose the most competitive option.

Defensible Numbers

Every value traces back to 6-component machine hourly rates, centrally managed material prices with commodity index sync, and configurable overhead allocation. When the customer questions a number, you have the answer.

Collection-Based RFQ Management

Every RFQ is managed as a Collection — a group of costings for one customer inquiry. The Sales dashboard shows active collections, their completion status, and due dates. Status progresses from Open through In Progress and Ready to Submit to Submitted, then Won or Lost.

  • Collections group costings per RFQ event with annual parameters (volume, inflation, productivity targets)
  • ReadyToSubmit gate requires all costings to have an approved cost version and signed feasibility
  • Pipeline analytics show weighted value by stage, win-rate by customer, and win/loss reason analysis
  • Recent decisions panel tracks won and lost quotes with customer and annual value

Build Calculations with Process-Specific Depth

The Engineering workbench is where costings are built. A split-screen layout shows the BOM tree on the left and process step parameters on the right — with a live cost preview that recalculates as you type. Each process step draws from centrally managed 6-component machine hourly rates and material prices.

BOM Structure

Multi-Level BOMs with Process Chains

Unlimited BOM depth with sub-assemblies. Each component can have its own process chain — forming, joining, machining, surface treatment, and assembly. LE/RI mirror part pairing with linked or individual process steps.

Cost Rollup

Two-Phase Calculation Engine

Phase 1 traverses the BOM tree (material + process costs per edge). Phase 2 runs a separate tooling pass to avoid double-counting shared dies. Overhead allocation applies per your configured methodology.

Real-Time Cost Recalculation

Every parameter change triggers a cost recalculation with a 300ms debounce. The live cost preview at the bottom of the process step form shows immediate impact — no manual refresh, no save-and-wait.

The Complete Quotation Workflow

When an RFQ arrives, Sales creates a Collection. Engineering builds costings using the extensible process engine, drawing on 6-component machine hourly rates and centrally managed material prices with commodity index sync. Controlling reviews and approves through configurable routing rules. The entire workflow runs on one live dataset.

  • Extensible process definitions with dedicated parameters and calculation strategies per manufacturing type
  • 6-component MHR: direct labour, indirect labour, machine fixed, machine variable, depreciation, overhead
  • Material prices with LME/ICIS commodity index sync and drift alerts
  • Overhead methodology: surcharge, activity-based (Prozesskostenrechnung), or hybrid
  • ORAGO AI flags cost anomalies and suggests optimisations before submission

Approval Rules
Configurable approval routing rules with conditions, required approvers, and escalation timeouts

Every Submission Gated.
Every Rule Configurable.

Before a quotation leaves your organisation, it passes through configurable approval workflows and automated plausibility validation. No quote reaches the customer without the right sign-offs.

  • Cost version state machine: Draft → Pending Approval → Approved or Rejected
  • Configurable approval rules: “margin below 15%” routes to Management, “annual value above €500k” requires Director sign-off
  • Plausibility rules validate parameters per process type (cycle time vs. weight, rate vs. benchmark)
  • Escalation timeouts ensure nothing stalls in the approval queue
AI Alert — Quotation Costing: DC04 +4.8% may affect 6 active costings in Collection 76. Total margin impact: €12,840 across 280k units/year. Analyse impact →
AI Suggestion: Switching from 400t to 630t press for Part 4412 could reduce cycle time by 18% and save €0.42/pc. Based on 14 similar parts in your calculation history. View details →
