Process-Specific
Cost Calculation
for Manufacturers
Four integrated roles. An extensible process architecture — customised to your specific manufacturing processes by the ORAGO team at implementation. 6-component machine hourly rates. ORAGO AI embedded in every workflow. One live calculation — shared by Controlling, Engineering, Sales, and Management simultaneously.
ORAGO Cost Controlling is the right fit for:
- Manufacturing suppliers with 5–200 active quotation projects per year
- Teams where Controlling, Sales, and Engineering currently work in separate Excel files with no shared live state
- Companies that need to respond to RfQs with a defensible, audit-ready cost position
- Suppliers under open-book pressure from OEMs requiring cost breakdown-level cost transparency
Not designed for:
- OEM design or purchasing teams evaluating supplier costs from the buyer’s side — ORAGO does not currently offer an OEM-facing product
- Companies that only need a reporting layer on top of an existing ERP standard cost module
- Single-person freelance estimating workflows with no team collaboration requirement
Own the Master Data.
Every Rate, Rule, and Methodology.
The Controlling role owns the foundation that every calculation is built on: machine hourly rates, material prices, overhead allocation, process definitions, plausibility rules, and approval routing. Changes here propagate instantly to all live costings across the organisation.
6-Component Machine Hourly Rates
Direct labour, indirect labour, machine fixed cost, machine variable cost, depreciation, and overhead — per cost centre, per Mockup Year. Total rate is always computed, never manually entered.
Material Price Index Sync
External commodity feeds (LME, ICIS, custom) sync on schedule. Drift alerts fire when market price diverges from your current cost assumptions — before the customer notices.
Overhead Methodology
Choose surcharge-based (Zuschlagskalkulation), activity-based (Prozesskostenrechnung), or hybrid allocation. One methodology active per deployment, applied uniformly across all calculations.
Build Calculations with
Process-Specific Depth.
The Engineering workbench is where costings are built. A split-screen layout shows the BoM tree on the left and process step parameters on the right — with a live cost preview that recalculates as you type. Not generic fields. Real manufacturing parameters for each process type.
Split-Screen BoM + Process Steps
BoM tree on the left (42%), tabbed process detail panel on the right. Navigate the product structure and edit process parameters without losing context. Live cost preview updates on every input with a 300ms debounce.
Industry-Specific Templates
Step-by-step workflow templates for automotive stamped parts, machined housings, welded assemblies, medical implant components, and electronics PCB assemblies. Advisory — guides but does not gate.
Drawings, Specs, RfQ Docs
Attach drawings, specifications, photos, and RfQ documents directly to costings, BoM nodes, or process steps. Every attachment is categorised and retained permanently for audit.
See the Commercial Impact.
Pipeline, Win Rates, Margins — Live.
The Sales module manages the commercial lifecycle: customers, projects, collections, quote positions, and cost breakdown export. Pipeline analytics and win-rate tracking give Sales and Finance leaders real-time visibility into the quoting portfolio — not month-end reports from a disconnected spreadsheet.
Collection-Based RfQ Management
Group costings into collections per RfQ event. Track status from Open through In Progress and Ready to Submit to Won or Lost. ReadyToSubmit requires all costings to have an approved cost version.
Pipeline Funnel & Win-Rate Analytics
Weighted pipeline value by stage, win-rate trends by customer, and win/loss reason analysis. Know which customers you win with, which you lose on price, and why.
Cost Breakdown Export & Negotiation Log
Export cost breakdowns in OEM-specific formats directly from approved cost versions. Full negotiation history attached to each collection for audit-ready quote documentation.
Portfolio-Level Visibility.
Pipeline to Plant Capacity — in Real Time.
The Management module gives executives a portfolio-level view: weighted pipeline value, win-rate trends, margin distribution, capacity forward view per plant, and cross-project analysis. Plus a Cost Data API for integration with BI, ERP, and external systems.
Capacity Forward View
Pipeline volumes weighted by probability project resource requirements per plant per month. Bottleneck alerts fire when projected utilisation exceeds capacity — before you commit to a quote you cannot deliver.
Cross-Project Analysis
Compare margin distribution across the pipeline. Identify which product families, customers, and plants generate the strongest contribution — and where margin is structurally under pressure.
Cost Data API
REST API with JWT authentication and OpenAPI documentation. Endpoints for calculation summaries, cost breakdowns, BoM structures, financials, and cost version history. Push cost data to ERP, BI, or CBD Controller.
Extensible Process Architecture.
Built for Your Manufacturing Reality.
ORAGO’s process engine is built on an extensible abstraction layer: every manufacturing process is defined through a structured process model with dedicated calculation strategies. New process types — or adaptations to your plant’s specifics — are implemented by our development team during implementation, using clean extension points designed for exactly this purpose. No monolithic rewrites. No waiting for a product release cycle.
- Extensible process model abstraction — any manufacturing process can be defined
- Strategy-based calculation engine computes cost and cycle time per process type
- Plausibility rules and validation logic per process definition
- New processes added by the ORAGO implementation team — tailored to your exact manufacturing setup
Every Change Tracked. Every Submission Gated.
Every Rule Configurable.
Cost calculations in regulated industries demand complete traceability. ORAGO Cost Controlling provides field-level audit trail, configurable approval routing, and automated plausibility validation — all built into the core, not bolted on as an afterthought.
Field-Level Audit Trail
Every change to every field is recorded in an append-only ledger: entity, field name, old value, new value, user, and timestamp. Immutable once written. Exportable to CSV or PDF for external auditors.
Configurable Approval Routing
Data-driven rules evaluated when a cost version is submitted. Conditions like "margin below 15%" or "annual value above €500k" route to the correct approver. Escalation timeouts ensure nothing stalls in the queue.
Plausibility Validation
Automated checks per process type: cycle time vs. weight, rate vs. benchmark, scrap rate vs. norm. Severity levels (Info, Warning, Critical). Critical violations require override with documented justification.
Controlling. Sales. Engineering. Management.
One Calculation. One Truth.
In most organisations, these functions work in separate Excel files that are emailed, reconciled manually, and still misaligned at quote submission. ORAGO Cost Controlling gives all four roles a live shared workspace — not a collaboration add-on bolted onto a single-role tool.
Configure
Set machine hourly rates, material prices, overhead structures, and approval rules. Every change propagates instantly to all live costings — no manual updates.
Calculate
Build product costings using process-specific models. Work on the same live data as Controlling and Sales — no file emailing, no version conflicts.
Control
Monitor pipeline value, contribution margins, capacity impact, and win rates on live data. See changes as they happen — not after the next file export.
One person. Three roles. Zero switching friction.
At many suppliers, one cost engineer manages Controlling master data, builds Engineering calculations, and tracks Sales KPIs — often simultaneously. ORAGO AI is aware of all role domains at once. Ask it “What is our MHR for Press Shop in Mockup 2026?” or “Is Collection 47 above the contribution hurdle?” without navigating between views. As your team grows and roles separate, the multi-role architecture is already in place — no reconfiguration needed.
Your AI Co-Pilot for Every Calculation
Not a bolt-on chatbot — an embedded AI layer that understands your costings, your master data, and your historical benchmarks. Role-aware and context-sensitive across all four domains.
Material Price Monitoring
Automatic alerts when commodity prices shift. Know which costings are affected and by how much — before your customer asks.
Cost Anomaly Detection
AI flags unusual cost patterns, outlier process times, and inconsistencies across similar parts. Catch errors before they reach the customer.
Optimisation Suggestions
Recommendations for process parameter adjustments, material substitutions, and tooling consolidation. Based on your own historical data.
Ask in Plain Language
Query your entire costing portfolio using natural language. ORAGO AI searches across calculations, master data, and benchmarks to give you context-aware answers.
Built for the Manufacturer.
Not Adapted from the Buyer.
Most costing tools were designed for OEM engineering teams, adapted for use in procurement, then bolted onto manufacturer workflows as an afterthought. ORAGO Cost Controlling was purpose-built for the manufacturer’s job from day one.
Replace the spreadsheet — without losing control
Your existing Excel cost structures migrate intact. ORAGO adds what Excel cannot: live multi-user state, tamper-evident version history, and AI that alerts you before margin drift reaches the quote.
Enterprise depth. Without the enterprise contract.
Leading enterprise PCM tools are built for large enterprise manufacturers and OEMs. ORAGO serves manufacturing supplier teams of 5 to 50 — with the same process model depth and none of the six-figure implementation overhead.
Works alongside your ERP, not buried in it.
ORAGO deploys standalone and connects to your ERP via REST API, OData, Excel, or exchange tables — pulling actuals from SAP or other systems, pushing quote data back. Your costing lives in ORAGO, not inside an ERP module your cost engineers can’t control.
Built on a Modern Stack
ORAGO Cost Controlling is engineered on ASP.NET Core with Blazor Server for real-time UI updates via SignalR. No legacy dependencies, no desktop client required, no end-of-life runtimes.
The platform runs on SQL Server with a RESTful API layer, making it straightforward to integrate with your existing ERP, PDM, and BI infrastructure. Whether you deploy on Azure or on your own servers, you get the same performance and feature set.
